T. Boone Pickens- Who is this guy on my T.V. every 10 minutes?

"Boone honey, how many times do I need to tell you- I want a new G650. You'd better get off your ass and get those wind turbines running. Pronto!"

Corporate raider and George W. Bush chum Thomas Boone Pickens, Jr. seems to be on my television every time I turn it on. He appears in a commercial touting his energy plan (http://www.pickensplan.com/). In it he asserts that we must take steps to cease our dependence on foreign oil, citing both economic and security issues as justification to do so. Sound good? Of course it does, but there is more to this story than meets the eye.

Why would a lifelong Texas oil pimp want our country to switch to natural gas and wind powered energies? Because we are running out of oil and he wants to profit on the next energy boom. You see, T Bag Pickens is in the process of building the world’s largest wind farm in Texas. He also has some serious big money holdings in natural gas. While I commend T. Boone Pickens for attempting to educate the masses on the dangers of peak oil and proposing solutions to combat our dependence, I have a sneaking suspicion that profits are the real reason he’s so gung-ho about his project. If Pickens has been so concerned about our country’s energy future, then why has he given millions of his own cash to elect politicians content with the status quo? Because Boone Pickens is a savvy investor, and he sees that his oil profits will begin to dry up as our oil supply dwindles. As usual, he’s ahead of the curve. The more politicians he gets elected that don’t support alternative energy funding, the fewer competitors he has to deal with. Just as sure as you can’t make money in the oil business if you have no oil to drill, you can’t make money in alternative energies if you have too much competition. The Pickens plan is inspired not by a desire to better America, but by a desire to continue amassing his fortune.

Boone’s prior “patriotic” endeavours include a $3 million contribution to the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth 527 group (SBVT). This is the outfit, as you may remember, comprised almost entirely of vets whom never served with John Kerry, that deemed him “unfit for command” in a series of television advertisements. Of the ten soldiers that served with Kerry on his boat crew in combat, only one joined the Swifties. All of his other living brothers in arms supported his presidential bid. But this made no difference to Pickens. His friend G.W. Bush was Kerry’s opponent, and he’d be damned if he had to allow official military records and testimony from all but one of Kerry’s boatmates derail his quest to get W elected. In financing this group of liars, Pickens cemented his status as a scumbag. Further proof of Boonie’s dishonesty was his offering of $1 million to anyone who can disprove any of the charges made by the SBVT, only to renege on the offer when presented with military records proving several of the Swifties claims as falsehoods by a group of Vietnam vets.

So, when the ad comes on your T.V. and a friend or family member says “this guy doesn’t seem so bad” please explain to them Pickens’ motivation for the project as well as his involvement in the sad case of the Swift Boaters smear campaign.
