Condi Rice to Dine With Terr’st Muammar Gaddafi

I said I was sorry, now buy our oil!

I said I was sorry, now buy our oil!

Swingin’ single and U.S. Secretary of State Condi Rice will break bread with terrorist leader Muammar Gaddafi, of Libya, this weekend. Never mind the fact that (r)epukes constantly criticize Obama’s reported willingness to sit down and chat with leaders of nations hostile to U.S. interests. Libya has apologized for the Lockerbie bombing which killed 180 Americans in 1988, and that means he’s A-OK with the Bush crowd. After all, Libya has plenty of oil, and the Bushies never have a problem putting their thirst for more oil before American lives.

Back in the Saddle Again

Fresh off his Hawaian vaca, Barack Obama was back at Saddleback Church Saturday night, this time to answer questions posed by Pastor Rick Warren. John McCain then aswered the same questions. Evidently he was in a closed room and unable to hear Obama’s answers.
Rick Warren did a fine job questioning the candidates. The network moderators should take note. None of this summers “debates” has provided voters with as much relevant information as tonight’s event. Good stuff.
I thought McSame handled himself fairly well. He seemed confortable with the format. He provided viewers with somewhat clear presentation of his flawed policy proposals. The most important question was handled in very different fashion by each candidate. Here is the transcript from each (Obama in blue, McBush in red)…

Q: OKAY WE’VE GOT ONE LAST TIME — I’VE GOT A BUNCH MORE ABOUT LET ME ASK YOU ONE IN EVIL. DOES EVIL EXIST AND IF IT DOES DO WE IGNORE IT, DO WE NEGOTIATE WITH IT, DO WE CONTAIN IT OR DO WE DEFEAT IT?
A: EVIL DOES EXIST. I MEAN, WE SEE EVIL ALL THE TIME. WE SEE EVIL IN DARFUR. WE SEE EVIL SADLY ON THE STREETS OF OUR CITIES. WE SEE EVIL IN PARENTS WHO HAVE VICIOUSLY ABUSED THEIR CHILDREN AND I THINK IT HAS TO BE CONFRONTED. IT HAS TO BE CONFRONTED SQUARELY AND ONE OF THE THINGS THAT I STRONGLY BELIEVE IS THAT, YOU KNOW, WE ARE NOT GOING TO, AS INDIVIDUALS, BE ABLE TO ERASE EVIL FROM THE WORLD. THAT IS GOD’S TASK. BUT WE CAN BE SOLDERS IN THAT PROCESS AND WE CAN CONFRONT IT WHEN WE SEE IT. NOW, THE ONE THINK THAT I THINK IS VERY IMPORTANT IS FOR US TO HAVE SOME HUMILITY IN HOW WE APPROACH THE ISSUE OF CON FRONTING EVIL, BUT YOU KNOW A LOT OF EVIL HAS BEEN PERPETRATED BASED ON THE CLAIM THAT WE WERE TRYING TO CONFRONT EVIL.
Q: IN THE NAME OF GOOD?
A: INTO THE NAME OF GOOD. AND I THINK ONE THING THAT’S VERY IMPORTANT IS HAVING SOME HUMILITY IN RECOGNIZING THAT, YOU KNOW, JUST BECAUSE WE THINK OUR INTENTIONS ARE GOOD DOESN’T ALWAYS MEAN THAT WE’RE GOING TO BE DOING GOOD.

Q: HOW ABOUT THE ISSUE OF EVIL? I ASKED THIS OF YOUR RIVAL IN THE PREVIOUS THING. DOES EVIL EXIST AND IF SO, SHOULD WE IGNORE IT, NEGOTIATE WITH IT, CONTAIN IT OR DEFEAT IT?

A: DEFEAT IT. COUPLE POINTS, ONE, IF I’M PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, MY FRIENDS, IF I HAVE TO FOLLOW HIM TO THE GATES OF HELL, I WILL GET OSAMA BIN LADEN AND BRING HIM TO JUSTICE. I WILL DO THAT AND I KNOW HOW TO DO THAT. I WILL GET THAT DONE. NO ONE SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO TAKE THOUSANDS OF AMERICAN — INNOCENT AMERICAN LIVES. OF COURSE EVIL MUST BE DEFEATED. MY FRIENDS, WE ARE FACING THE TRANSCENDENT CHALLENGE OF THE 21-CENTURY, RADICAL ISLAMIC EXTREMISTS. NOT LONG AGO IN BAGHDAD, AL-QAEDA TOOK TWO YOUNG WOMEN WHO WERE MENTALLY DISABLED AND PUT SUICIDE VESTS ON THEM, SENT THEM INTO A MARKETPLACE AND BY REMOTE CONTROL, DETINATED THOSE SUICIDE VESTS. IF THAT ISN’T EVIL, YOU HAVE TO TELL ME WHAT IS AND WE’RE GOING TO DEFEAT THIS EVIL AND THE CENTRAL BATTLE GROUND ACCORDING TO DAVID PETRAEUS AND OSAMA BIN LADEN IS THE BATTLES — IS BAGHDAD, MOSUL AND IRAQ AND WE ARE WINNING AND WE ARE SUCCEEDING AND OUR TROOPS WILL COME HOME WITH HONOR AND VICTORY AND NOT IN DEFEAT AND THAT’S WHAT’S HAPPENING. WE HAVE — AND WE FACE THIS THREAT THROUGHOUT THE WORLD. IT’S NOT JUST IN IRAQ. IT’S NOT JUST IN AFGHANISTAN. OUR INTELLIGENCE PEOPLE TELL US AL-QAEDA CONTINUES TO TRY TO ESTABLISH CELLS HERE IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. MY FRIENDS, WE MUST FACE THIS CHALLENGE. WE CAN FACE THIS CHALLENGE AND WE MUST TOTALLY DEFEAT IT AND WE’RE IN A LONG STRUGGLE, BUT WHEN I’M AROUND THE YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN WHO ARE SERVING THIS NATION IN UNIFORM, I HAVE NO DOUBT, NONE.

The contrast in the candidates’ logic is crystal clear. Barack Obama recognizes that America must confront evil to succeed. We must confront evil by understanding its roots, message, spread, goals, and tactics. An honest assessment must be presented to the American people. We can then decide as a nation how we wish to deal with “evil” and evildoers.
John McSame couldn’t resist the opportunity to take a page from the Bush playbook when answering the question. He immediately proclaimed that America must defeat evil to succeed. This represents the tired, unsuccessful logic of the neoconservatives. In their view, there is no need for examination of terrorism and other forms of evil. Their philosophy ignores this necessary analysis and jumps straight to the part that lines the pockets of their defense industry chums. We must hunt down and kill or capture every terrorist on the face of the earth, they say. Many of us realize that this is simply not possible. We must focus our efforts on those individuals and entities which pose a threat to America. And the case for military action and government funding for such actions needs to be presented to Americans in a straightforward manner. Only then can we as a nation begin a successful campaign against evil. Barack gets it, McCain clearly does not.

Say Hello to McCain’s Little Friend

Ralph Reed

Ralph Reed

Ralph Reed, former head of the Christian Coalition, will host an exclusive event in downtown Atlanta on Monday to raise some cold hard cash for John McSame. This is a big money fundraiser, so the candidate himself will attend. Ralph’s list of accomplishments include swindling big money from an Indian tribe for his buddy Jack Abramoff, getting arrested for trespass inside an abortion clinic, lobbying for Enron in a deal brokered by Karl Rove, and (last but certainly not least) orchestrating attacks on candidate McSame in the 2000 (r)epuke presidential primary. The attacks on McCain included allegations that he conspired with his Viet Cong captors. Why would McSame now embrace this angry little man with a checkered past? Because John McCain is no “maverick” these days, and he’ll do/say/forgive anyone or anything just to get elected. It’s sad to see the once principled McCain sell himself out to the crowd responsible for destroying America.

DRILL IT DRY

KEEP ON DRILLIN

KEEP ON DRILLIN

The Sunday morning shows will be giving more than enough attention to the “drilling issue”, I suspect. It’s all over the w(r)ong wing wackosphere and that is usually a precursor to any concerted campaign effort. Unfortunately, what’s on the mind of the far right still holds weight with GOP strategists. Too much weight. If one were to look at the facts and scientific estimates, he or she would see that this drilling “issue” isn’t an issue at all, simply another bizarre fear button for the GOP to push. (Much like the social security “crisis”). The projected benefits including lower gas prices and less reliance on foreign oil are minimal. We are ignoring the inevitable. Like a drunk buying that “last bottle”, we are denying the urgency of the problem and hurting ourselves in the process. We will see no immediate impact- no “benefit” will be gained until 2017. Shouldn’t we be less reliant on ALL oil by then?

The “drill it dry” mentality has swept across Repukesville. It’s all they talk about. Their arguments question why anyone might be skeptical about this oil boom that’ll lead us to the promised land. It’s as if they believe that we are on the verge of some major discoveries, when all reputable estimates say that we’re not. I mean, it’s great that these people have such an optimistic outlook and can do spirit. But when you look at some of what these folks believe in, it can get downright scary. Much of the gang still believes global warming is a “hoax”. You can count them in for more exploration. Some also believe that the end of the world is near. It’ll be the showdown of Arabia, they tell me. I guess these people figure that since our days are numbered, screw the environment. They’re on board. My favorites of the gang are on the biddness end of it, though. They’re in for the cold hard cash and they craft the propaganda campaign that the gen pub (r)epukes are fed. “Scientific” data touting the bonanza to come once those drills hit the ground. More “scientists” doubting global warming. And Joe republican voter buys it. And somehow Obama seems to as well. Craziness.

The McSame campaign has released a new ad. They have titled it “Celebrity” and images of Paris Hilton and Britney Spears attempt to link Obama to the “Hollywood elite”. The message being pushed here is that Barack Obama is some type of “celebrity candidate”- just another pampered celebrity living the good life, unaware of the realities of the world.  This in contrast to John McCain, who, having been part of the political system for so long, is a seasoned leader- more in touch with the needs and hopes of ordinary Americans. Here is the ad…

I have long admired Senator McCain’s brave and selfless service to America. To this day, I consider him an American hero. For a long time, I believed that he was “above the fray” of the typical campaign back and forth of inaccuracies, distortions, and dishonest associations. He was a “maverick” after all, willing to buck his party whenever he felt they were on the wrong side of an issue. As time has passed however, I am realizing that John McCain the politician is more like the republican status quo than he portrays himself. He isn’t such a “maverick” after all. His campaign is the same old (r)epuke song and dance- “we are like you, they are not”.  Pushing McCain as the guy more like you, not that “celebrity” Obama.

That’s why I was surpised today when I read that McSame was wearing a pair of shoes this week that retail @ Neiman Marcus for $520. I mean, I have a good number of shoes myself. (Athletic, dress, casual, golf, sandal), but none of them retailed for $520. It wasn’t long ago that some friends mocked me for wearing those old New Balance 1700s that sold for two bills. “Ordinary” Americans don’t wear five hundred dollar shoes most of the time. Seems to me that John McSame is likely just as much of a “celebrity” and “high life” politician as any I’ve ever seen.

T. Boone Pickens- Who is this guy on my T.V. every 10 minutes?

"Boone honey, how many times do I need to tell you- I want a new G650. You'd better get off your ass and get those wind turbines running. Pronto!"

"Boone honey, how many times do I need to tell you- I want a G650. You'd better get off your ass and get those wind turbines running. Pronto!"

Corporate raider and George W. Bush chum Thomas Boone Pickens, Jr. seems to be on my television every time I turn it on. He appears in a commercial touting his energy plan (http://www.pickensplan.com/). In it he asserts that we must take steps to cease our dependence on foreign oil, citing both economic and security issues as justification to do so. Sound good? Of course it does, but there is more to this story than meets the eye.

Why would a lifelong Texas oil pimp want our country to switch to natural gas and wind powered energies? Because we are running out of oil and he wants to profit on the next energy boom. You see, T Bag Pickens is in the process of building the world’s largest wind farm in Texas. He also has some serious big money holdings in natural gas. While I commend T. Boone Pickens for attempting to educate the masses on the dangers of peak oil and proposing solutions to combat our dependence, I have a sneaking suspicion that profits are the real reason he’s so gung-ho about his project. If Pickens has been so concerned about our country’s energy future, then why has he given millions of his own cash to elect politicians content with the status quo? Because Boone Pickens is a savvy investor, and he sees that his oil profits will begin to dry up as our oil supply dwindles. As usual, he’s ahead of the curve. The more politicians he gets elected that don’t support alternative energy funding, the fewer competitors he has to deal with. Just as sure as you can’t make money in the oil business if you have no oil to drill, you can’t make money in alternative energies if you have too much competition. The Pickens plan is inspired not by a desire to better America, but by a desire to continue amassing his fortune.

Boone’s prior “patriotic” endeavours include a $3 million contribution to the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth 527 group (SBVT). This is the outfit, as you may remember, comprised almost entirely of vets whom never served with John Kerry, that deemed him “unfit for command” in a series of television advertisements. Of the ten soldiers that served with Kerry on his boat crew in combat, only one joined the Swifties. All of his other living brothers in arms supported his presidential bid. But this made no difference to Pickens. His friend G.W. Bush was Kerry’s opponent, and he’d be damned if he had to allow official military records and testimony from all but one of Kerry’s boatmates derail his quest to get W elected. In financing this group of liars, Pickens cemented his status as a scumbag. Further proof of Boonie’s dishonesty was his offering of $1 million to anyone who can disprove any of the charges made by the SBVT, only to renege on the offer when presented with military records proving several of the Swifties claims as falsehoods by a group of Vietnam vets.

So, when the ad comes on your T.V. and a friend or family member says “this guy doesn’t seem so bad” please explain to them Pickens’ motivation for the project as well as his involvement in the sad case of the Swift Boaters smear campaign.

Lost In Translation?…Nope!

"The voice on the audio tape calling for withdrawal is not mine. It's that damned Rich Little again. His impersonation of me is almost as good as his W. I would never say such a thing."

Nouri al-Maliki was NOT misquoted. He really does think it’s time for us to begin “standing down”. Bush and Co. must have needed a vacation from the strenuous task of spinning bad news 24/7 so they decided to outsource a bit of it to Iraq’s Prime Minister. Problem is, when something is recorded, it’s hard to make the argument that you never said it.

Beech Outdoor Advertising-Purveyors of Fear

ADVERTISE WITH US- THE MORE DISTASTEFUL, THE BETTER!

ADVERTISE WITH US- THE MORE DISTASTEFUL, THE BETTER!

Fellow Pennsylvanian Right Wing Whiz Kid (www.rightwingwizkid.blogspot.com) has suggested a boycott of the billboard company responsible for the “Please Don’t vote for A Democrat” disgrace. Beech Outdoor Advertising (http://beechoutdoor.com/about_us.html) owns the rights to the board purchased by fear monger Mike Meehan of St. Cloud, FL. Though the whiz kid and I are both First Amendment proponents, this does not mean that our collective right to free speech prohibits a little citizen justice causing economic harm to Beech. I call on all businesses in the central Florida area to cease any current and avoid any future business deals with Beech Outdoor Advertising. I also encourage any outraged readers to contact Beech and voice your displeasure.

I suspect that First Amendment rights aren’t of utmost importance to Beech Outdoor Advertising. To put my hunch to the test, I’ll be contacting Beech Monday to inquire about purchasing a billboard which highlights the rim job I got from Michelle Malkin one magical evening not long ago. While my proposed billboard would surely offend some, I see it as no more offensive than the tragic image of the towers burning next to a threat about voting Democrat. And Beech Outdoor Advertising is publicly defending that billboard… http://www.wftv.com/news/16879991/detail.html

Now that al-Maliki wants us out, What is the Republican Party’s position on troop withdrawal?

"Now you listen to me, Al (Maliki). I'm the Decider and I decide what's best for you, for me, for all."

Should we stay or should we go? Since it appears that the Iraqis are “standing up”, isn’t it time for us to “stand down”? Oh no, my mistake. That was LAST election’s RNC talking point. I’ll wager that the republican party line on the Sunday morning talk shows goes a little something like this…”So much has changed since the stand up/stand down mantra was introduced. The Iraqis don’t realize the danger they’re in. Only Bush/Cheney/McCain can protect them. If we withdraw from Iraq and Obama is elected (gasp!), our children will be raised in an Arabic-speaking U.S.A and Israel will be wiped off the map”.

The repubber fear machine will be full throttle in no time now- guaranteed.
