Therefor, the analogies seem quite applicable. We defeated Gaddafi and he straightened his act up. Or Japan, Italy and Germany? At what point after a conflict ends does it become OK to talk with somebody again? Is the time frame different when it's not a Democrat doing it? I think there's a difference between the U.S. Secretary of State having a discussion with a beaten enemy of a previous decade and the POTUS having open discussions without preconditions with the heads or figureheads of currently actively hostile nations.
