Amen to that brother. I came to this website thinking exactly that “Who the hell is T-bone head Pickens’. Heres a billionaire who has done nothing in the last 20 years to make fuel economy better, and hasn,t offered a solution in the past, but now that everybody hates the oil guys and rightfully so, he is taking the opportunity to show he is a concerned friend of the american worker. The ceo of Exxon got a 393 million dollar bonus this year, and this guy is going to tell the avg hard working American, how he is gonna help us. Its as insulting as Lilco who has been raping us for years, telling us how to save a few pennies on electricity, with house tips like don,t run your air conditioner when its under 100 degrees. This fat cat doesnt know what it is to fill his tank, he,s been getting chauffered, like all the rest of the b.s politicians. A typical fox, trying to run the hen house!!!

No, it’s not a “stretch”. Pickens has indeed done his part to destroy the country by funding candidates who seem hell bent on destruction, both domestic and foreign.

Ok, and what exactly do these “CO2 scrubbers” have to do with Boone Pickens?

that’s a bit of a stretch to say he’s destroying the country..

as for the environment, there are CO2 scrubbers out now that can remove a ton of carbon from the air about the size of an AC unit that sits outside a house..

all of the above, drill for oil and alternatives..

If Boone Pickens wants to cover the entire Texas panhandle with windmills, he’ll get no opposition from me. I suspect that the fine print of his grand energy plan includes provisions which insure that he derives all of the corporate welfare benefits available, however. It’s doubtful he’s praying for much competition, either. This might hamper his profit growth.(gasp!) I tend to be opposed to such arrangements.

T Bag Pickens has spent his entire life destroying this great country of ours- politically, financially and enviornmentally. I don’t think it’s such a stretch to question his motives while keeping in mind his history. That was the point of my piece. Thank you for reading and sharing your thoughts.

but if wind farms and solar and other renewable sources of energy emerge from it all, whether it’s T. Boone or A. Gore investing in it, then wouldn’t the planet come out on top..

Let me explain how yours is a flawed comparison, Davey Boy. It’s true that Al Gore too makes money, but there is a difference.

Al Gore hasn’t spent the past thirty years using his influence and power to elect public officials hostile to alternative energies. In fact, he has done quite the opposite.

Boone Pickens has used his resources to support “global warming is a hoax/drill it dry” candidates for many years. And now, he tries to play himself off as an alternative energy prophet/Mr. Sierra Club.

Do you see the difference?

Great post. Agree with you about Pickens disgusting past & his less than altruistic motives for pushing alternative energies. However, I don’t care how he chooses to spend his fortune (est. $10 billion in wind farms) as long as he’s not pimping the drilling of ANWR & the Pacific coast. Check out Tom Friedman’s op-ed in the NYT today. It’s rare that I agree with Friedman as much as I did after reading today’s column.
